What an incredibly dramatic shot!! Would like to hear from Stephen about the process of capturing it. Was it a lucky once off click or did the eagle make a habit of landing on this buoy giving him the opportunity to wait patiently with a camera until he got this one in a million pics. In any event it deserves high praise.

Hi SPL, I describe in the preamble HERE about taking the shot. We were on a small boat travelling in the sound some miles off Juneau, we were looking for whales and ay other wildlife. The Eagle had been circling and I was following it in the camera viewfinder. I suppose I was lucky that it proceeded to land on the buoy, but the camera was set ready to fire a burst at the correct time, so effectively I anticipated and was ready.
