Interesting article given that I've just purchased an Acer Iconia W4. This "only" has the 1280x800 display with "zero air gap" technology but it looks pretty good to me.
Acer got such a slamming over the abominable display on devices such as their W3 that they're probably focussing on not repeating that debacle.
