I am going round in circles, clicking on everything and anything I can see to try to win this software, but still keep getting back to the page go to the bottom of the page and follow the instructions!

Give me a hand Ian, I've been on the Amazon site twice.

Well I did now. I was clicking on the word Instructions and it took me Away from the bottom of the page.

I must be getting tired trying to get used to my new computer's touchpad. I need instructions on how to work it and I can't seem to find any on the internet.

Do you mean the touchpad on the laptop? I hate those things.

I use a small Logitech optical mouse with my laptop. I just shove the Mouse dongle in a usb socket at the back of the lappy and the mouse uses one Duracell AA battery that lasts for 2-3 months. Pol I ORDERED ONE AND IT CAME WITHOUT THE DONGLE

At this moment I am trying to contact DELL - impossible. I sent an e mail last Thursday and the acknowledgement said they would reply within 48 hours - I am still waiting.

Not quite sure where to go from there. I'll let you know.

I have just had a Blue-tooth mouse for my net-book & laptop, don't need a dongle therefore keeps the USB free to use for something else.

              Works really well.

Are you sure the USB receiver isn't stowed inside the mouse?

I have one here that has the dongle thingy inside the mouse. Like Ian says it could be stuck in there. The battery compartment has a small button that you press and the end of the dongle comes out. You then place it in the laptop.

What make and model is your mouse?

Have you ever received any of these Internet funnies that do the rounds and end up in your e mail?

The one that springs to mind is:

"You know you are getting old when ... ... ... you can't find your dongle!"

Thanks Ian. It never said in the instructions that was where it was stowed and when I rang Logitech, they just said I didn't need one and that the instructions must be out of date.

Well, it works, but now I need to use a mouse mat which I haven't used for years, because it's jerky. Perhps when I have used it a while, it will work without.

A big thank you to all.

The biggest worry, is that I still haven't managed to get through to Dell by phone (passed from pillar to post for 40 minutes) this morning. Even though they say E mail us, you have to go through umpteen FAQs and then I still did not get the E mail addie. I'm just going to hope it never goes wrong!

Once again thanks to a fantastic community.

Well I didn't know they put them inside. I have had three laser mice and probably 3 wireless keyboard and mice sets. All with dongle/receivers yet none of them have been inside the mice. They have been in a heat-sealed packet which took half a day to undo!

Are all dongles stowed inside mice these days or is it because it is very tiny and they want it to be portable so it does not get knocked when in transit?

Why didn't the Logitech techies tell me to look there

One other thing you mite not know is that the dongle, when inserted in the mouse, switches off the batteries so as to save power.

Glad to be of help, Audrey! Is the mouse a laser one? It should work on most surfaces without a mouse mat. Problem surfaces are glass, or other highly reflective surfaces with little or no surface details.

When it was delivered, the batteries were not inside the mouse. They were separate - just the dongle inside the mouse (hidden) in a little dongle house.
