  • DPNow previews the new Panasonic DMC-GF1

Here is a summary or excerpt from an article that has just been published on DPNow:

Weve been enjoying the use of several pre-production Panasonic DMC-GF1 Micro Four Thirds system camera samples. Its an even smaller and lighter Micro Four Thirds model, and it has AVCHD Lite video capability. And theres a new 20mm f/1.7 pancake lens, and a Leica-branded 45mm macro lens too.

This looks like a camera I want to own, I will even forgive it having video mode.
I have read some early reviews and seen some images.
It appears to address the weaknesses of the Olympus Pen the slow focusing, lack of a viable viewfinder for other than the 17mm pancake lens and built in flash.

I just got to have one. I am shelving the idea of my DSLR, and the ring flash upgrades and save more pennies for one of these little beauties.

Interesting - the Micro Four Thirds strategy is certainly attracting attention. Samsung will be announcing their independent challenger in this category soon, too.
