  • Bridezillas sting photographers

Here is a summary or excerpt from an article that has just been published on DPNow:

Bridezillas are costing photographers thousands this wedding season by disputing the quality of photographs and not only refusing to pay but suing for damages

After reading this, I ask who would want to be a wedding photographer!? The general responsibility inherent with this work is bad enough, but fussy brides suing because they don't think they look good enough is just gob-smacking!

It's quite staggering but hardly surprising in these litigious times.

I wonder if these brides sue the hairdresser if a curl fall out of place or their headress slips.

I don't do Weddings, there are several reasons which I won't go into now, suffice to say this is another. However the fact is that there are too many people now that think because they know their way round a digital camera they can be a wedding photographer. Yet they don't realise that good creative wedding photographer is a skill that they often don't possess.

A client of mine once showed me a CD of photos supplied by the photographer at his own wedding, and asked for any thoughts I may have. Frankly the set of photos were appalling if not embarrassing. Anyway the upshot of it was that he took the photographer to some sort of tribunal to get a resolution. I felt he was perfectly justified.
