On the face of it, today's DPNow.com Picture of the Day may look fairly unremarkable. However, this picture by Maurice Brehaut, also known as Mowgli on the DPNow forum, has grown on me. The depth of the carpet of autumn leaves is rather remarkable, and the colour is a delight.

Thanks Ian for the lovely comment on this picture, and of couse thanks for choosing it as picture of the day. As I put in the original post the park is the topic for a interclub competition and as such on that day driving home I chose to just take a walk around, get some ideas and planned to come back at some time in the future with the dslr, as it happens I am glad I had the compact on me and took this picture as the weather did not allow me time to go back. When I looked at the same scene yesterday the leaves had all lost their colours so the moment has gone. I think it may be wise to keep the point and shoot in the car
