    Re: Pentax reveals 10MP weather-sealed DSLR flagship

    It's official now:

    These products are designed for exclusive use with PENTAX K- and *istD-series digital SLR cameras. They are being developed as the top-of-the-line star ( * ) lens to deliver exceptional performance and optimal image quality.
    These products will feature the PENTAX KAF2 mount, which incorporates additional electrical contacts to drive a built-in supersonic motor used in autofocusing operation.

      Well spotted

      Yoshi, who usually spots news in Japan for us, is on holiday at the moment so thanks for filling in for him!

      Do you have any thoughts on the Samsung GX-10 and the five lenses they mention?

        The same thoughts as I have about the corresponding Pentax model -- minus the thoughts that I have about Pentax Service (including free software updates) and Pentax software (the SilkyPix engine is really good).

        Most of the new Samsung lenses are old Pentax lenses. (Not sure whether the 35mm is the equivalent of an old or new Pentax model.) I haven't read anything about support of ultrasonic lenses in the new Samsung, but that doesn't have to mean anything. Maybe they just didn't mention it because those lenses won't be available within the next five months anyway?

          Hi Ian,
          I scanned your posts about K10D with due interests.
          I just want to add what I learned from a Pentax exec. interview at Photokina.
          He says a flagship , K1D, is yet to come together with some others such as K20D, K30D, though he adds that these model codes are just for examples for easier discussion/references.

          If that is the case, it must be more exciting not only for Pentax fans but also for DSLR world as a whole.

          P.S. still on trip-will register when back at home

            Forgot to say;

            The interview says K1D will have a KAF2 mount and it does not mean the medium format 645 digital.

              After loss of K-M Z3 due to busted case from short 2' fall, pleased to see the used of steel internals to provide solid base for remainder of construction.
