  • So what is it ?

They say it's a "Phone" but is the Galaxy K Zoom that one small step into the realm of being a camera.

What if anything makes it one thing or the other and if there is a line, where is the crossover point

Re: So what is it ?

They have made the body a lot slimmer and more like a phone but there is still a big lump where the lens hides. It's a lot thicker than my Lumia 1020 or an Xperia Z1 but has a more realistic optical zoom.

I don't think I have ever seen a Galaxy Camera of any model description in the 'wild' yet...

With the Leica - T moving towards the smartphone, with its style of user interface and this Galaxy K Zoom moving towards being a camera, the convergence of technologies is looking to be an inevitable conclusion.

In particular with the desire to share through social media the images, the speed at which these can be posted can, in some rare instances, be real money earners. With the increased capability of data transfer systems, live uploads of video will increasingly be used.

Maybe the blurring of the boundaries will allow further features to migrate across the devices.
