Nikon 1 32mm f/1.2 ultra-bright portrait lens announced
Re: Nikon 1 32mm f/1.2 ultra-bright portrait lens announced
By the way, f/1.2 is equivalent to the depth of field of a lens of comparable field of view of a full frame lens at f/3.3. So the 32mm f/1.2 @ f/1.2 will have the same depth of field as a full frame 87mm @ f/3.3. The Oly 45mm f/1.8 is equivalent to a full frame 90mm f/3.6. The difference in effective DOF for these lenses is marginal.
Mmmmm... I'm not terribly impressed by the sample image portrait of a lady. Or am I being too harsh?
Ian
Hi Ian,
There are two portraits with the first wide open at +1.7 EV, which for me is overexposed and detail suffers. The second one is at f/2 and 0EV and reveals more detail, as it would anyway. My experience shows me that the extra fast lenses tend to have split personalities .....or you get two lenses in one (for the price of three times what one might cost)
The out of focus gradient doesn't look to bad for a 32mm FL.
The portraits might have been taken at the portrait settings which are softer and I think are quite nice.

OOOOh texture! Given the current resolution/pixel densities complextions captured could be ones that only a dermatologist could appreciate......in turn, I do appreciate my dermatologist....she is very pretty.....LOL

Resolution is king - you can get rid if detail if you don't want it but you can't add detail when it wasn't there to start with

Ian, there are certain subject-age related limitations to the nobility of Resolution ........if ignore you can be rudely reminded of them by those to whom we should be showing our respect ....the term "character" wears out quickly

Here is a little evidence that the subject of this thread has arrived....
I hope the picture shows up. I couldn't use the insert image for the one in my pbase gallery. The lens on the right is a CV 50mm f/1.1 M mount and the one on the left is the 18.5mm f/1.8 Nikor. The 32mm on the camera is made in Thailand and not in the Chinese factory the Ian visited.
Nice lens this 32.
