  • Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX7 premium compact hands on preview

Here is a summary or excerpt from an article that has just been published on DPNow:

Panasonic has built up a loyal fan base for its LX series of premium compact camera featuring Leica-branded lenses. Today we skip a number from LX5 to LX7. We've been trying the new camera which has an electronic viewfinder option and a super-fast 24-90mm equivalent f/1.4-2.3 Leica zoom and a traditional aperture ring, all in a diminutive form factor. Find out how the LX7 performs in our hands-on preview, including an image sample gallery.

Anyone here tempted by the new LX7 with its f/1.4 Leica-branded lens? I was impressed by the image quality it produced when I tried a pre-production sample:

The built in auto ND filter is something I have never heard of before!

Actually these have been around for a while - I think the very early Canon G compacts had ND filters because the top shutter speed limit was not fast enough for bright light.
