It always surprises me how many people really liked the original GF1. It wasn't a particular favourite of mine for various reasons (the EVF option was poor and it only had a mono microphone for video recording). But the GX1 sorts all that out and I enjoyed using it. Assuming results will be just like the G3 it's based on internally, the image quality should be very good.

      Hi Ian,
I agree with your feeling about the GF1 and I think this one looks really good. At the end of the GX1 article it jumps to the forum tread for the Nikon 1 rather than here. I almost added to that thread to mention that new Nikon 1 owners are noticing an "occational soft image syndrome" and that the senor maker has been identified.

Hey Bob, you can be my sub editor as you are so good at flagging my goofs Fixed that link - thanks for letting me know

Who makes the V1 sensor? I suppose it could be Kodak, but would be a little surprised, as I would be if it was Samsung. And Panasonic? LOL!

          Hi Ian,
Glad to help keep you on the straight and narrow
Aptina make the J1/V1 sensor for Nikon. This was discovered by Chipworks who tear cameras down to see what is inside. The direct link is:

I often wondered if all the Big players didn't have "tear-down" departments where the competators' products were examined. From there it would go to the patent search dept. and then to the engineering/research people. Then, maybe they use someone outside like chipworks.

My current object of interest is the Fuji X-10. Are you going to get one to review?
