Here is a summary or excerpt from an article that has just been published on DPNow:

Ricoh's CX4 travel compact is technologically advanced, supremely pocketable and well screwed together. But has Ricoh done enough to persuade us to actually lust after one? Find out in our hands-on review, complete with over forty sample images for you to download.

    Re: Hands-on review: Ricoh CX4

Compact system cameras or 'hybrids' as I prefer to call them; compacts with interchangeable lenses - they are supposed to be addressing compact owners who want the functionality and image quality of a DSLR without the bulk and complexity. So where does that leave a camera like the Ricoh CX4; it's very small and light and has a wide zoom range, but its image quality and flexibility is no match for a hybrid or a DSLR.

Is the CX4 and its like a lightweight alternative for a hybrid user or are these high-spec. compacts being squeezed out by hybrids, like Panasonic's GF1/2, the Olympus Pens, Sony NEX, Samsung NX, etc.?
