  • Nikon introduces Coolpix P7000 plus D7000 DSLR and more ready for Photokina

Here is a summary or excerpt from an article that has just been published on DPNow:

Nikon has completed its pre-Photokina announcements with the news that a New Coolpix P7000 high end enthusiasts' compact is on the way, plus a high-tech slimline Coolpix S80 compact, along with a high-spec, D7000 DSLR that slots in between the D90 and the D300s. There are also two new FX lenses and a new Speedlight flash. We also have an insight into Nikon's UK aspirations.

The d7000 looks tasty, be interesting to see what the iso performance is like with it still being a cropped sensor and cramming 16 megapixels on there,

Canon seem to have managed to pull off this trick with the 7D and 550D - it's a slightly smaller sensor and has 18M pixels.

But do you need that many pixels anyway? Be honest

Mmmm I suppose not, do you really need 10? I only need 6 to print off in a3
Seriously though if you are selling to stock agencies, the higher resolution images will sell better than lower as it gives the buyer more scope as to what they can do with the image imo!
I could have done with 16 when I first started, loads of cropping pottential
