Peder I have read that the Mac version of Elements is better than the PC version. Also if you buy Lightroom on a disc, rather than a download, you get a Mac and PC version.

Good to hear you have a Mac now and like Lightroom

There are minor detailed deifferences between The Mac and PC versions, but the biggest differences I'm aware of are that the Windows version has face recognition search and the Mac version doesn't, and you get a version of Adobe Bridge for the Mac instead of the Organizer tool in the Windows version of Elements 8. Bridge is powerful, but I wouldn't call it user-friendly. Elements Organiser is actually quite powerful and it's certainly a lot more user-friendly.

I read on a Mac forum, that PSE8 for Mac also has the full ACR rather than a Lite version as in the Windows edition. I can't confirm that though. As for face recognition, I'm personally not sure about its value, though thats just me, who doesn't use Twitter or Facebook or other social networking sites However Picasa 3 has face recognition, and Pedar maybe pleased to know that iPhoto on his new Mac has it too.

Ah, sorry Peder, ACR is Adobe Camera Raw, the raw conversion engine in Adobe products such as Elements, Photoshop CS and Lightroom

I have had Elements 7.0 for about a year and am still learning, this is a powerful editor although not always intuitive (maybe just I am not bright), couldn't justify the expense of Photoshop. Would agree with the Gadget Show

Just sorted out the batch processing in C4.5

                      Hi

just chipping in on lightroom. I recently switched from pc to mac and downloaded lightroom to my mac. I found the serial number from my PC download activated the mac version. Great to see this sensible approach by a company.

                      Loving MAC BTW.

                        Yes. I have PSE 8.

I process in lightroom and then do any cloning or sharpening in pSE.

                        best regards

                            Hi

yes it also asked me for the serial numbers for lightroom 1 as well. By sheer luck I still had that so all was okay.

                            Best regards

Re: Photo gadget of the decade

Lightroom took some time to win me over but now that I mainly shoot .dng and have spent some dozen boring evenings keywording files I would be reluctant to change back. I have a copy of PS 6.5 for actual photo manipulation as opposed to simple editing.

However if I nominated any single bit of software it would be Picasa. Simple to use, does much of what Lightroom does and is free. Beats any of the manufacturer's bundled software that I have tried hands down.
