Re: Amateur Photographer Magazine
I can sympathise Patrick, I suppose the only compensation would be that the years subscription would be cheaper than buying copies at the newsagent. But then you probably wouldn't buy every edition anyway
I took out a subscription to Digital Photo Mag, I was seduced by the free gift etc. I would probably not have renewed the subscription for a second year, though I do like looking at the mag. However I then find that the annual subscription has been renewed automatically without telling me.......so whats that all about, don't they have to tell you that your subscription is up for renewal. Car insurance, house insurance, Car tax, TV license etc all send you a reminder, so why not these magazines. I'll let it go this time, its prob what they hope for anyway, but its being cancelled next time. Anyway the CC has been changed now so they won't be able to take the money

Re: Amateur Photographer Magazine
I always cancel my subscription to magazines and renew those I want to keep, as they always have a new deal that is better value than the existing one and often there are the free gifts.
Some companies are very good at dealing with customers and tend to keep them, others, as you have experienced, are not and loose them... Wouldn't you think they would have learned this by nowGraham

Re: Amateur Photographer Magazine
My personal opinion is that the magazine is a lot better now than it was a couple of years ago. Since Damien Demolder became editor, the design and content of AP has improved noticeably. But I do agree that the subscription options are sometimes perplexing. For example, it's cheaper to take out a six month subscription than a year's - at least it was the last time I looked!

I tended to buy it for what's going on here and there, and what is to happen, and habit. But I can easily live without that sort of info, and get it from DP-Now.
My real gripe about the subscription is being advertised at one price and charging another. and then messing me about to put it right instead of just doing it when requested.

Originally posted by Patrick View PostThe emphasis of the magazine is too fond of equipment comparisons, not always comparing like for like products. I don't particularly like the method of review. They are at the moment giving tokens for the Leica competition, and even forgot to put the token it on the second week.

I have just received a reply to my email sent to AP concerning my complaint on the handling of this subscription. It is very obvious it was read very superficially or not at all, the reply would appear to be a standard letter not really addressing the point I have made.
But would you expect anything different in this day and age, when standard letters are used regardless of the situation, and the service personnel quote from the script when talking on the telephone?
