  • Free online storage space

We all know that DPNow gives us a generous 25mb of space to store our photos, which is great and we can get a shed load of reasonably sized images in our galleries. However what if we need more storage space for much bigger files or to put a lot of full size photos, or perhaps our music library.

Windows Live Skydrive, I have discovered gives us 25GB of free storage space. Now I just know someone is going to tell me there is some other site that offers more free space. Well that maybe the case, but is not why I started this thread.

I recently put just a handful of shots from my recent Canada holiday that had been sitting around on my desktop, onto my Skydrive account, basically to see how it all worked. Today though I logged on again and clicked on Slideshow. I have to say I was really impressed with what I saw, and felt duty bound to share it with you all Try clicking on this address and see what you think, and I'm talking about the facility, not the photos

This is very slick - did you have to load a SilverLight app for your browser? This is Microsoft's answer to Adobe Flash.

I couldn't see an option to view detailed exif data though?

I can see 25GB being very handy for all sorts of things, though!

No, didn't have to install anything especially. I'm using Safari on my MBP laptop at present and it has worked with it from the outset. I do have a recollection that at some stage though I may have been prompted to download a flash plugin, though not specifically for Skydrive. There doesn't seem to be any detailed Exif but there is just some basic info down in the bottom right if you click on an individual photo
