  • Prints on Canvas

I have been asked for a couple of prints on canvas and quite big as well, Probabaly 30" x 20"

As I ain't had these before I wondered if anyone has and was pleased with the quality/sharpness.

I'm not too bothered by the size as they are both slidefilm shots.

I would use Peak Imaging normally and they call it 'Canvatex wrap' and do it in 3 different finishes, canvas, linen and a smooth finish. They can't do the canvas atm as they have none so it would be linen which I would think is similar.

I've printed on Canvas (1.30 meters long) and I was quite satisfied. I say "quite" because it is different from being used to print photos. My impression though is, that the quality of the canvas printout depends more on the quality of the machinery being used that the photo quality itself.

Anyway it is a good experience and I think you should give it a try.
It is also nice to see your photos in such a big size looking somehow close to paintings.

I would think Peak Imaging use the best machinery so I would'nt worry about that.

Thing that does bother me though is that I won't know what they look like until I've got em, and they ain't by no means cheap.

        Well Mick,

For the first time you will need to go like on a "Blind Date"
I don't know how much they cost there. Here in Greece they are expensive too. I paid for 1.30 meters long 72 Euros, but it was worth it.
Smaller sizes cost less but my photo was approximately 19000 pixels long and was a printout for a cafe store display so it had to be somehow bigger.

            Mick,

Here is a good suggestion then:

Gather all you canvas prints and book online plane tickets for Greece with Easyjet. The tickets are very cheap tickets if you book in advance through the Web. I traveled many times with Easyjet with tickets of 50-70 BP round trip from Greece to UK when I was doing my 2nd degree in Computer Science in UK (2001-2005). I even did that once from UK for a weekend gateway back home in Athens.
