          Hi,

We are very lucky with our children's schools. The Junior school used to say 'please only take pictures for personal use' they don't now. All that happens is that parents/ guardians are asked to sign a form giving permission for their children's photos to be included in brochures and in displays. It is not mentioned again.

Videos of school plays and sports day success are very precious. Parents should not be deprived of these special moments.

I agree wholeheartedly! I must admit I'm surprised this recent report from the privacy watchdog hasn't been more widely and loudly hailed online, despite it being reported in several of the Nationals at the time.

Apparently LEAs are being sent new guidelines ... although it had already been made clear back in 2005, by the Information Commissioner's Office, that parents should feel free to take pics of their kids in school events etc.
