Whats in the bag

Hi Guys

Busy chatting to a couple of soldiers today and they asked what camera equipment i had in the bag.

So I put the question to the Forum - "what have you got in the bag".

depends what / where i'm shooting. usual is no bag, camera with big lens and a diy rain cover.

Olympus E-3 with HLD-4 battery grip.
12-60 lens *(24 -120)
70-300 lens *(140-600)
Cards, batteries, filters etc....

.....thus making a pretty heavy bag.

*Fourthird lenses you double the focal length.

You'll be wanting us to include a photo of our gear in our sigs before long Dave You see it on certain forums, and I often think its a sort of boast, like saying my gears better than yours, or I've got more lenses than you type of scenario.

Pretty sure its not what's intended so I'll go along with it. As Devilgas said it depends on what I'm doing, but if it all goes into the bag, I have the Canon camera, a 17-40, 24-70, 70-200 and a 100-400. Then there is a 1.4 TC and a flashgun, along with a few bits and pieces like a remote and a few emergency items, oh and I always carry a spare camera battery and some AA's for the flashgun

It varies depending on what I'm up to...

However on the more obscure side:

Spare Film (Still using it)
Hama Clamp (most usefull gadget ever)
Map (varies with location)
Digital Recorder (plus a Pen & Paper)
Off Camera flash lead (Essential for substituting flash for the Sun, Fill-in, etc.)
Tissues & Eye Drops (Hayfever)
Spare batteries (LR44s, AAs, as well as the power packs)
Plastic Bags (Not everything is weather protected)
Lens Cloths (In case I run out of Tissues )
Small White/Gold Reflector (Often used for outdoor portrates)
I used to have a Gerber Multi-Tool but that was taken out to reduce "issues" in case of stop & search (my one concession to paranoia )

Had a good clear out and was supprised to find a few quid in change, several half eaten rolls of Polos, a dead spider

Like the others it depends on the outing, from the G10 to the full kit.

I have two bags one very much larger than the other.

The full kit big bag out for photography only

the 10D for IR
40D
Lenses f2.8 17-35, f2.8 24-70, f2.070-200, f2.0 105 macro and a 300mm prime lens, plus a 1x4 converter. two x 2 battery sets.
Spare memory cards, an assortment of filters, remote release, and a mono pod or tripod.

The small bag again out for landscape only

10D with 17-35 lens
40D with the 24-70 lens
Spare batteries and cards.
Filters and a remote release mono pod or tripod

Day out the G10

Well, I have several bags, including one enormous ThinkTank Photo Airport Addicted backpack and my kit is constantly on the move from one bag to another.

But for normal use I will probably have my Kata 103 containing:

Olympus E-30 DSLR with grip
7-14 f/4 (14-28 equiv)
12-60 f/2.8-4 (24-120 equiv)
50-200 f/2.8-3.5 (100-400 equiv)
1.4x converter (I also have a 2x but it's only used on really fast lenses)
FL-50r flash
Spare batteries
Cokin wide angle filter holder
A couple of Cokin ND grad filter squares
Various diameter Cokin adapter rings
77mm circular polariser
Manfrotto quick-release plate
Camcorder
12 inch laptop

I use to carry oly E30 & E510, zuiko 9-18mm, 50mmm macro, 14-54mm and 50-200mm, polarizers for all the lenses, extra batteries, manfroto tripod #3021 with quick release plates already atached in each camera and one in the 50-200mm lens. Pentax spot meter for some playing around with ZSystem visualizations, a rectangular piece of cardboard with a hole in the center 24 x 36 mm for composition and previsualizations simulating the focal distance of the lens (getting closer or away from the eyes, which will be soon replaced by the measurement of the 4/3 camera sensor), IR Hoya 72 filter, and several other gadgets rarely used. Clean lenses, avid eyes and looking everywhere!

At the moment my 'bag' is my pocket and all I have in there is my tiny Leica C-Lux and a tissue.

The tissue is just in case I get Swine 'flu. I wouldn't wanna be responsible for spreading viruses - well not to any Pentax K10D users anyway.

Assuming a full day out...Camera..17-85mm..60mm macro....70-400mm...flash ... remote release...spare battery and mem card. Other bits and pieces not forgetting the ever important neatly folded bin liner.

Went to a Mediaeval Re Enactment at Bolsover Castle at the weekend. When I saw this chap (he was also cluttered at the front, but couldn't catch that), it made me think of this thread. The little boy looks as though he is having a good stare - he is probably wondering if he should swap his wooden sword for some of the clobber.

You can just see his mono or tripod. Wonder if he uses them all?
