  • My CCTV project video

Not been posting much of late, mainly because (as some of you will know)
I've been working on a photography project about CCTV and surveillance.

Anyroadup, as part of this I've made a short video which I hope you'll find interesting, it's at:

There's also the flickr stream where I've been posting the photos in this series as I've took them at:

This is seriously impressive and inspirational stuff,David. I pop from time to time in to look at your Flickr stream anyway but the video really does bring it all together to complete the overall impact. Fantastic work imho.

I agree with you about multimedia presentation, though I'm nowhere near mobile enough or talented enough to do that sort of thing myself. I always look forward to seeing what you're doing with it though.

Top marks for that video presentation. It's superb - sound and vision spot on. I love it!

      David,

I too have been looking in on this from time to time and I really am impressed by the project.

Putting some pictures together in PowerPoint and adding captions is one way to start. Have a look at 'Magnum in Motion' to get some inspiration.
I agree. I also prefer photoshows without frills ... just appropriate sounds and straightforward picture sequence without those 'intrusive' transitions that come with the likes of Movie Player.

I don't have PowerPoint, never used it, never had it. I'll certainly have a look at Magnum in Motion though, thanks.

There's also a Canadian street photographer (hobbyist) I sometimes talk to who uses Roxio Photoshow very effectively. I never tried that either so maybe I should get myself into gear and have a go. Here's the link for the Roxio Photoshow the Canadian chap uses.

Dunno that I have enough pics for any of my own (small) projects yet but I plod along as and when I can and the folders are gradually fattening out, albeit slowly.

David, although I'm not qualified to pass comment (but so what) I've just checked out your video and it is seriously impressive and inspirational. Thank you so much for sharing it with us.

              David,

The sound track is also mind-blowing and works perfectly to create the right sort of atmosphere along with the photos. I'm finding myself waiting for 'the main feature film' after your 'opening credits' trailer has finished.

Did you record that sound track yourself?

                  Re: My CCTV project video

Thanks. I know exactly what you mean about having the visuals first then sorting out the sounds and adding the sounds later. I have something in mind for one of our sons. It's just something for a personal video from his own photos but it would give me a starting point to try things out.

I certainly don't think the sound on your surveillance video overpowers the pictures. I didn't think the sound was intrusive on your 'duppies' video either. I thought they were spot on both times. Enhancing rather than dictating the interpretation imho.

I must say I'm never too sure about voice overs though. They often come over to me more like a 'news report' style of presentation rather than something artistic.

You could make the most of your 'Manc Mono' by using it in a sort of 'social documentary' style of video about the area so don't let it put you off.

I've been living 'Doon Sooth' since 1966 but still hang onto my dulcet Northumbrian tones, except when I'm angry and firing off at a 'softie' - then I can still flip over into a splendid, full-blown Geordie fish-wife.

                    WOW!

That is an amazing peice of work David. The look and feel of the video is kind of moving, and this is punctuated by the background 'music'.

I am not sure what you do for a living, but this is so professional.

The images in the video are outstanding, the highlight for me is the eye photo used at the start and as the finale.

                    Brilliant stuff!

I did another video where I adding an existing piece of (my own) music.
In the end I re-did it with original music, having learnt my lesson.

Thanks very much Coupekid and JoJo

Wow. That's some piece of work.

I think the soundtrack and transitions are very well fitted to some very strong images.
