I've just taken delivery of my first Canvas print. Its 60"x40", now thats BIG The photo was one taken on our cruise through the Inside Passage on our way to Alaska in '07
What I'd like to know is, how would people recommend I hang it on the wall? What's the best and safest way to hang such a large print, which incidentally is on a wooden frame
Systematic Art is a manufacturer of quality museum-grade Art & Picture hanging systems. Our gallery display hardware is easy to install and loved by customers across many sectors.
There are absolutely loads of sites. Roy has hung many pictures, but not as big as 5'!
I suggest you google or go to your local Timber shop. You probably need to get advice from a joiner re weight and your type of wall.

As it happens, the book I'm working on covers this - but I have subcontracted the section about framing and displaying
I haven't got the copy in yet, but I might be able to help you netx week

Out of interest, why did you go for canvas?
Ian
Haha, NEXT week, I'm desperate to get it on the wall now
I've actually been into Homebase this afternoon and got myself some Heavy Duty Picture Wire, and some screw eyelets. I reckon with the picture hooks I already have that should do the business
Why canvas? Mainly because they look fantastic, and I wanted to make a statement on the wall, hence the size. Canvas prints also don't need mounting and framing.
I'll bet you can't guess how much such a large print cost me, including shipping from Germany

Also look for hanging a heavy mirror.

Thanks for the suggestions Audrey. This was one of my photos, taken around sunrise, I have others fairly similar but they had the sun in, which was a tad hazy, and I didn't like the effect as much as had it been a nice clean glowing ball. You can see an example in my Alaska gallery http://dpnow.com/galleries/showphoto.../size/big/cat/
The pic is absolutely beautiful.
I just gotta ask what was involved in getting this monster size printed
Thanks Pops. Its all actually very easy. The picture file from my 1D (8.2mp) was uploaded to the site, as you would do to any other photo processing site. They tell you what sizes are available depending on the quality of the file, and mine would do the largest size. They do the rest, which obviously involves upsizing. The site is based in Germany and I have an account with them. iirc the whole thing from ordering to delivery took 4-5 working days.
It has to be said the quality is superb, I'll let you have further details of the company if you are interested
Bet that looks super so big. I just hope you have done a really good job of mounting it on the wall. I would hate for you to come downstairs one day to find it on the floor. I think we need to see a photo of it in place. I have also used a place in Germany for prints it was so easy as you say just upload a photo say the size you want and then wait for the postie to turn up. the one I used was www.posterjack.tv. I saw an ad for them last year on sat tv during the ad's and gave them a try. They do a 80 by 60 cm print for only 8.50 plus p&p
Great picture. and will suit the canvas very well. I have just invested in 3 * 12 inch by 10 acrylic blocks with the picture set in the middle. Great for window sills and gives a nice 3d effect.
Apologies if I missed it but where did you order from.
