    i see oly have just bought out a new lens, the ed 40-150,, as i,m no lens expert, can anybody explain to me , the F4 to 5.6,
    i presume this is because it,s a zoom lens, but this aperture figure, is not going to let in a lot of light, this would be no good for low light shots,i presume, i,m more used to seeing F2.8 etc, as you see, i,m a bit dim on these matters,,,john
    still want to learn though

    F.4 is not an uncommon max aperture for a dSLR zoom lens. I suspect your f.2.8 is on a much smaller digicam. If this lens was f2.8 it would have a much bigger front element, be much heavier and no doubt twice as expensive. At the end of the day its one stop difference which can easily be compensated for by increasing ISO. On the upside the minimum or smallest aperture will no doubt be f22, whilst yours will be f8 or 11
