Re: Photography or Art?
Really like this gina, the frame sets it off well too, in my view photography is art, if you can gel the 2 like you have in this image your onto a winner, I would gladly place this on my wall in large canvas, if I had took the shot
Well done.

Re: Photography or Art?
I like this. I see it as the sort of image that could be used to illustrate a book - or maybe a book cover. Yes, definitely suitable for a book cover imho.Originally posted by Gina View PostThanks Ash,
Glad you like it, I'm always doing something different with my work, some things work and some don't of course. I've just done another experiment, let me know your thoughts.
It's called ... Dreamscape
You ask if there's a name for this sort of style. Well I think there are all sorts of descriptions you could use for it. The term I use is usually 'Photographic Art and Graphics' - and that would include any sort of digital art where a straightforward photograph has been used as the basis for the final image.
I reckon it's all art - though each 'style' has different tools and techniques.
Here's a link to a website you may enjoy. the original art is fine art from someone called Jim Warren. Lots of the images could be used for inspiration for a using photograph combined with digital art .. or even inspiration for double or multiple exposures.
Go here for "The Great Illusion". Author - Victor Khan
The credits page is here, where you'll find more about Jim Warren', the artist who created the images.
There's also a link to Jim Warren's personal webite, HERE
Ok it's fine art but that doesn't mean it can't be used for the basic inspiration for combined photographic art/graphic art imagery.
Enjoy.

Re: Photography or Art?
Gina,
You might like to have a look at the selection of Mediachance software HERE.
Some of it is free, some is shareware but it's all very affordable. RealDraw can produce some very interesting colours and effects and anything you create from it can be exported into Photoshop. I used it myself a few times many years ago. I've forgotten how to do it all now but I do recall getting some very good golds, silvers, chrome along with interesting tones and textures.
All those Mediachance programmes are worth looking at if you're interested in digital art.

Re: Photography or Art?
They don't need to be mutually-exclusive. Photography can be art, though not always.Originally posted by Gina View PostHi all,
I've got a question, Photography or Art?
I was trying to achieve something different. Has this style of photography got a name? Any contributions from you would be greatfully received. The original is beautiful which I will include in my gallery.
