Ian - My wife and I had a similar experience with Easyjet returning from holiday in early June from Portugal. Our return flight from Lisbon was scheduled to depart at 7.30 pm and after checking in at the correct time and going to the departure gate at the time shown on the monitors in the lounge, we sat waiting near the desk for the the final check to board. No staff were present and after about an hour the monitor screen nearby flashed up a message to say the flight was now delayed. Still no boarding staff to inform us what was happening and we could not return to the lounge to get something to eat. Finally about 9pm two boarding staff arrived, but could not give us any information. At about 9.30 we were allowed through to the final gate ready to board. We finally got off the ground about 10.30 pm and arrived at Luton after midnight. When we wrote to Easyjet to complain about the poor treatment at Lisbon all they said in reply was they were sorry for experience and lack of information and the staff at Lisbon would be investigated for their poor record. !! Never again.
