I am browsing DP-Now using Google Chrome (Beta) their new browser.

    First impressions it looks good.

On reading most of this link it would appear that Google were quick to change the offending terms and are looking deeper to deal with anything that may continue to offend and apply changes retrospectively.

So all our photos that get submitted here using the Google browser would be free for Google to use as they wish.

        Barge-Pole comes to mind.

Except they have already re-written the contentious clauses.
Hue & cry springs to mind, would have killed the browser before it started had they not acted fast.

Just been comparing Internet Explorer, Firefox, and the new Chrome (beta).

Internet Explorer is slow compared with the other two, with not much between Firefox and Chrome (beta). Chrome perhaps just the faster but that is still in beta stage could get faster with the final version.

More interesting was the fact all three render colours slightly differently, Blue in Chrome leading towards purple. Both Internet Explorer and Firefox though different are closer to each other.
So much for profiling our screens to view DP-Now images when the browser can affect the result as much if not more.

This is interesting Patrick, I have my version of Firefox set to show the Adobe 1998 colour space, which it does, and yet the colours and brightness still look different to those in CS3. Have you any idea if Chrome will show the wider gamut colour spaces.

I've not tried Chrome yet, as the last time I checked there was not a Mac version released.

Only just come to the party on this one. Looks good so far and DPnow certainly seems to run faster on it when compared to IE.

Popular opinion on the web is that it's not colour managed though...mmm, it doesn't like the way I spell colour so a built-in US English spell-checker obviously. Now, if I can't change that, I'll be dropping it........

I read in the paper today it is power hungry - I imagine though many here have a goodly amount of up front memory.

Not noticed although I'm running a quad core with 4GB of RAM +2GB "ReadyBoost" on a compact flash card so I'd hope not to notice! (I'm pretty sure ReadyBoost helps but generally this PC handles everything I throw at it).

I will have a look though, out of interest, as I hadn't come across that fact in trolling the web this morning for info on Chrome.

                      Re: Google Chrome

On my machine with each up and running on its own, no other work going on:

                      Memory used FF 93MB - IE 40MB - Chrome 30MB

So a definite saving over FF, but none of them is really power hungry.

                        Re: Google Chrome

My numbers are slightly different, IE = 43MB, FireFox = 48MB and Chrome = 18MB, however when I sorted the processes into alphabetical order, it shows 2 processes running for Chrome with a total memory usage of 38MB so not that much better than the other two (and even though I'm not using Chrome, this has gone up to 58MB whilst I've been typing this?).

Ending the first Chrome process closes the browser, closing the second displays an "Aw, Snap" (!) error message.

Tried it on Friday, but wasn't too impressed ...
Spoke with the security guys at work and he wouldn't touch it because they had found 'holes' in it already.
He seemed to think it had something in common with Mac's Safari .... nto sure if he meant the code or what ?

My security guy drives me round the bend. He once agreed that the only time he would be truly happy that a sever was secure was when no-one could actually log on to it - except him of course, he'd need to check that no-one had penetrated his beloved machine - and I think he really meant "his".

It does have something in common with Safari - they both use rendering engines derived from Webkit, which at the moment is the fastest coding around.
I really like Chrome, and it will probably take over from FF as my default browser when a few of the useful add-ons arrive. On FF I always use WOT and FireFTP, not yet available for Chrome.
