  • Speedy service!

I ordered a batch of enlargements from Photobox yesterday afternoon at approx 4-00pm. The postman delivered the prints a few minutes ago at 7-50am .... 16 hours from ordering to delivery (just used the normal first class postage too)

Can't complain about that, though I had to get outa bed to open the door to the postman.

I wish I could say the same. I have uploaded all the photographs of my brother-in-laws wedding (taken in Antigua) and chosen an album. They offer to send you a test print to verify colour balance. Three emails and a phone call regarding this test print over the last four weeks has failed to produce one. I'm reluctant to proceed with the order if this is there level of customer service.
Regards Ron. Live each day as if it was your last. One day you will be right. Down sized to Nikon s7000 compact camera.

Yeah, David wouldn't shift so I had no other choice.

Interesting to note that the 3 prints I'd processed when the old monitor was on its last legs are the only 3 that aren't quite right (colours too dark and dull).

I'd been a tad concerned anything I processed on this laptop might not be ideal but they turned ou perfectly, spot on colours etc. I was chuffed about that as it means I can be more confident about the lappy and take my time going about geting the new desktop.

I've never had any problems with their service so I haven't ever needed to chase them up about anything. I can appreciate why you're not happy with them though!

If I were in your position I'd probably try phoning them and discussing the matter directly rather than waiting any longer.

One other thing you could do would be to order 6x4 or 6x4.5 copies of the photos (depending on the file sizes) and judge the resulting print colours for yourself before going ahead with the album order. They'd cost no more than 10p each.

Their phone number is on the customer service page iirc.

My last contact with them was by phone. I was assured that the member of staff I was speaking to had a test print in his hand and was going to get it posted to me immediately. One week further down the line and still waiting. Like yourself, I am unsure of the settings on my screen. All prints that I make tend to be a little lighter than my screen but colour seem OK. I'm far from being a pro. but would like on this occasion to get it right.

              That's very annoying for you!!

If I were you I'd still go ahead and order a batch of standard prints (6x4 ot 6x4.5) to see how the colours of the prints compare with what you see on your screen.

My screens are calibrated with Spyder2 and I upload them to Photobox as sRGB files. Any prints I've had from Photobox have always been spot on, near enough exactly as I see on my screen. I don't do much photo printing at home, especially when I want a permanent print for longterm archives.

If you haven't calibrated your screen the chances are that the Photobox prints might not be exactly what you see on the screen but nevertheless near enough and acceptable.

A batch of 6x4 would be the best way of knowing how the colours perform.

I hope you manage to get something sorted out soon and I wish you all the best with it.

Thank-you for your kind wishes Pol. The pictures were taken by a professional out in Antigua. My brother-in-law had them put on CD. To be honest with you I'm not that impressed with the quality but there is not much that can be done now at this late stage. They were passed to me to edit and upload to the web so that all the family etc had a chance to see them. As far as that goes all seems to have gone smoothly. Just the last, but most important, stage to get completed. They have been married 3 months now and want there Wedding Album. Come on Photobox get your finger out.

It would appear that the so called professional was using a Nikon D40. Hardly top of the range, but I guess if you are a pro you should be able to get good results with any camera.

Be sure to make or obtain copies of that CD. It might be a good idea to store copies of the photofiles on an external drive too if you have one.

Another possibility could be for you and/or other family members to have a look at the photograph albums at Picture Lizard. They offer various sizes and styles of albums for storing your prints. It might make a nice surprise prezzie if you can get a slip-in or pocket album for the 6x4 test prints.

I hasten to add I've never used the Picture Lizard's printing service. I've only ever bought storage albums and other archiving bits and pieces from them.

Their selection of wedding albums is HERE and they usually take about a week to 10 days to deliver.

I don't believe the email I have just recived.

                    Dear **************
We notice you've created a Photobook on photobox.co.uk but haven't placed an order yet.

What a shame not to finish your Photobook and be able to enjoy the final printed result. Maybe you've just forgotten about it? If so, visit us at Photobox again soon to place your order.

Sorry I can't print my reply

Oh dear - it seems the 'work experience kid' may have been running the place when youn've been trying to get things progressing.

Have been looking in 'my account' 'recent orders' and 'order history' to check the status of your order?

When an order is submitted gone through safely they usually email you after a few minutes then the order status appears in your account so you can follow it through.

It might also be helpful to check your banking acount and see if any payment has been deducted yet.

It's just possible the original order didn't get through as intended.

I haven't ordered anything as such yet Pol. After selecting and creating my master piece, it was they who suggested that before placing an order I should check my monitors calibration with one of their test prints. I said thanks very much I'll have one of those and do a calibration check as suggested. That's when it all went Bum up. I've downloaded the image from their web site and just need the print now to see if what my monitor displays is similar to their test print. I can honestly say that before long I will print them myself and get an album from W H Smiths.

                          Re: Speedy service!

Update: After waiting another week (still no calibration test print) I went ahead and ordered a wedding album complete with prints. They stated five days and sure enough the album arrived this morning. Nice album, nice prints, except the prints were of someone else's holiday. Now who in there right mind would have put holiday photos in a wedding album. answer Photobox. Must have been obvious that something was not quite right. So another phone call, told them to cancel the order. No I will not except a reprint, I want a refund was all I could say. So now we start again. This time I hope the company I select has the intelligence to process my order correctly. No come to think of it, I'll buy an album and print my own photos to put in it.
