  • For Photoshop lovers.

    Hi All,

For all of us who fix some of our photos in Photoshop, and wonder at the things that the real experts can create, THIS guy's work will amaze. Especially in 'New Images 2'
Rather disturbing I feel, all created in Photoshop, but I wonder what his dreams are like.

Very clever Roger, but I do finding it disturbing.

I don't like pictures to be too manipulated.

I'm with you here Audrey, too much messing about and they become art and not photography. I'm all for tweaking a few levels and maybe getting rid of something distracting but some pictures are so manipulated they look more like a painting. IMHO

Is there any photographic content in the images? It looks like photo-realistic artwork to me. It's very striking!

Quite right Ian, it is just photo-realistic artwork, no photos involved. Even though it is not to my taste I find it very impressive, what an imagination he must have, quite apart from his PS skills.
Bert Monroy paints in Photoshop too, but his paintings of everyday scenes are good enough to pass for photos quite often, and certainly make you look twice. Have a look HERE and be ready to be surprised if you haven't seen his work before.

That is indeed remarkable work - even looking closely it's difficult to tell that it isn't a photo I would assume that he uses photos to base his works on? Julia thought the images were HDRs.

              Re: For Photoshop lovers.

No Ian, I know that it is hard to believe but they are all constructed from scratch in Photoshop - no photos involved. He is reputed to be the best photo-realist artist around, which I believe, and he has written several articles in Photoshop User magazine showing how it is done. I tried following some of them just to see if I could, but when I got up to about sixty layers I gave up.
I have attached a few examples of his industrial work. One of his articles demonstrated how he did the puddles and the ripples for the oyster bar.
