Re: Still long way to go!
Hi Patric,
a good idea! I have never thought about it. Need more flexibility in my idea generation, indeed. Those vintage films must have been sold with premium prices - - - hopefully.
This morning on TV the president of Fujifilm told in a business program that the film sales was almost 20 percent of the total turnover, while digital products and special films for LCD screen had about 40 percent each. I learned they started cosmetic business recently. They say core technology is same for films and cosmetics.
Have you sold all of your film cameras, Patrick?

Re: Still long way to go!
Hi Stephen,
yes, you are right. If you think about it from additional costs viewpoint, I should forget about the films. A typical accountant would surely say, those are sunk costs and I should forget about it.
but as you know, I'm a hobby photographer and not good at accounting, so decided to finish all of the films. In order to avoid the lumpsome payment of the development expenses, at the moment only a small portion of the films have been sent for development and the remainings are still kept at home.
Don't you miss the sound of film winding motor?

Re: Still long way to go!
Hi Patric,
you made the decision at very early stage of the digitalization process - seven years ago!? And the camera was one of the rare items. Twin lens reflections!? Wow! I recall my father taught me photography using his twin lens reflex camera.
Now it's 2006 - degitalization of cameras have nearly finished. Film cameras are less and less priced in the second hand markets and my film cameras are one of those best seller models - so many in the markets and cannot expect to sell at the price prevailing eight years ago, to my regret.
So I think I will keep them all and try to keep them in good shape as long as possible and pass them all in future to those who love old gears with good love/understanding. For this purpose I think i will periodically check the health of those old gears. cheers!
