This is a maybe silly question
but it is the local show this weekend, and tomorrow is press day.
do you have to belong to any magazine/paper. Or could I apply in my own right.-too late for tomorrow I know, but curios.

I think you'll find that admission to a press day is usually by invitation only, though you may be able to apply successfully if you can produce some form of recognised press or media card ..... eg NUJ card, maybe a letter from an editor or possibly some of your own byline articles if you're freelance.
I went to see the arrival of the first Airbus A380 at Heathrow. I had heard of it's arrival and got in touch with BAA who were behind the event.
I moderate a well known flying forum and I got affiliated as 'Electronic Media' I had to fill in a few forms and got the reply back the night before with details where to go and what time etc. On the forms it asked for proof of employment by means of a letter from an editor but being a mod on an internet forum I obviously couldn't do this. I explained this to them and that is why I was classed as 'Electronic Media'.
Got a press pass upon arrival with my name on it and the name of the website. Got to see the official opening of the terminal (3) by Gordon Brown and got to look inside the new plane itself as well as being allowed to walk around it and take pictures of it from outside on the apron.
Flippin 'eck, well done you! Yup, "seek and ye shall find" (or something like that?) Good for you for giving it a go - sounds like you had a great day. So, when are we gonna see some of your shots?
I know, I couldn't believe it when I got ok'ed! Was on Sky news too!
Also got a load of freebies from BAA and Airbus. Collectors items now I guess as the stuff was only produced for the opening of the new pier and the arrival of the plane. All locked away upstairs at the moment.
