  • Hiking Equipment

    Hi all
Can anyone suggest a solution to my problem, I am an avid walker and often do 3/4 day treks, the problem being I need to cary my day walking gear and also I want to take my E500 with the 2 lenses, at present I have a rucksack for my camera gear and one for my walking. what I need is a waterproof solution to my camera gear that is not carried on my back as i need to carry my wealking equipment, any advise would be great.
    regards
    Mike

Hi Mike. Have a look at baby slings that go around the front. They are quite light and will hold your gear no problem and keep it all dry.

Upgrade to a water resistant E-3

        Sorry - couldn't resist!

I can't really help you much as I'm no expert on walking gear. Camera cases are normally relatively heavy as they are quite heavily padded. Up market camera cases come with made to measure waterproof covers that stow away compactly when not needed.

ThinkTank Photo do a very nice 'bum bag' system that goes around the waist, belt style, It has modular cases that can attach very securely to the belt in addition to the main receptacle. The main section could probably accommodate the E-500 and kit lens plus your 40-150, just about.

Here is a link to the Speed Demon model, which I have:

The belt 'wings' can be tucked away to convert it into a medium sized case with an optional shoulder strap. The bags are extremely well made.

        There are UK dealers: http://www.thinktankphoto.com/purcha...rnational.html

Sorry, really should read the complete post before posting a reply.

You could consider Lowepro's belt and harness system:
