Where was this taken? (It's one of my Sister's that she sent me today).
169 steps to the vantage point if she recalls correctly and her 3 year old made the trip with her
The fact that the sun is shining might fool you as to the location
Yay! That was shot from the top of the old lighthouse overlooking the RHDR terminus and Light Railway cafe at Dungeness.
That carpark beside the cafe and the station has 'sprouted' a "coaches only" sign recently so I have a hunch the cars are gonna be shoved further and further back towards the power stn. I wouldn't have thought there'd be many coachloads wanting to go down there either so I'm wondering if that area's about to starting 'growing' as a tourist attraction with some sort of package deal for climbing the lighthouse and riding the miniature railway.
Either that or coachloads of daytrippers being taken along there to be nuked.
Yup - that's the lighthouse that whispered in my ear and told me it had always wanted to be a windmill - so I played my part in helping to fulfill its dream.

Stuart, I was pondering more about this shot last night and thought to myself that she did a very good job. Nicely framed with good content that could certainly hold its own against some of the 'official' photos from the high points in and around that area.
Was it Piers who climbed to the top of the lighthouse - or is he a fully grown schoolboy 'sassy punk' by now?

Pol
It was he, can't remember if he's still 3 or if he's 4 now although his height & build (and vocabulary!) make him appear a fair bit older. He's still got the temperament to go with his ginger hair - a right handful. I guess primary school will be this September or the following spring - god help them!
I think my sister is coming on quite well, she's producing some really nice work lately and she's pretty good with PhotoShop. Just need to wean her off the dreaded green square (full auto) and perhaps into shooting RAW. I now also have two brothers also shooting Canon so that makes four of us and at our family Christmas party, when it came to the time to dish out the presents, it looked like the paparazzi had arrived
