Well I think you lot have got it all wrong. My remote works by sound command and sight command. Dose a really nice job of all the housework and cooks dinner on demand, Oh and keeps me warm in bed. Get yourselves a willing wife. Only cost a few boxes of chocs a year. What more could you ask for.

Thanks for that Dennis. It seems DPReview tested it. I get the feeling its a bit of novelty item and restricted by its range and its speed, not to mention being a user of social networking sites like Facebook etc, which I know you will be Dennis . Its really for use within the home and negates the need to plug the camera in to the 'puter and the associated uploads to your site. But 3hrs to download 2GB seems a bit OTT

It does seem like a proper Gizmo though eh, proper bloke stuff

Re: Just bought a new Gizmo

Stephen, I have been looking for one of these but have not seen this one before.

I sometimes use a 10metre cable and obviously this would do away with that.

Can you tell me if there is any delay at all if say you were 15 metres or so away from the camera.

I prefer peanut butter (smooth) and on toast, so it melts a bit, with a light sprinkling of salt...jam can be so expensive nowadays so it's reserved for Sundays only, when we have tea with the Vicar.

Mick, I haven't tested it to that degree yet, give me a couple of days though and and try and get back to you

Re: Just bought a new Gizmo

i use a modified radio remote that will either allow me to trigger the camera remotely from about 30m or to have it connected to a camera i'm holding, then on hitting the shutter, it'll trigger the 2nd (or more) remote cameras. have used it for watersplash photos on rallies with great success.

details and results shots here - http://www.devilgas.com/photo/350d_r...dio_remote.asp

being radio it alleviates the line of sight requirement of IR triggered remotes

Neither have I but I read a lot of positive stuff (and some negative) about the Lightsphere on a couple of US forums, especially in the wedding tog's sections. To my eye the results are slightly better than bounce flash with a stofen or the 580's pull-up white card.

Mick I've tested it up to about 16 good paces and it seems to work instantly. I went up to 20 paces and it wasn't having it. Frankly thats more than enough for me. If I'm using a second flash wirelessly it won't usually work beyond that sort of distance

Thank's, forgot to mention I would only use it with wireless flash but it should'nt make any difference I suppose.

20 paces is probabaly more than I would want to use it at as it would replace my 10 metre cable, so obviously I'm never more than 10metres from the camera.

Does it do 'half shutter press' as I can't see that mentioned in the blurb and I would need it using an STE-2

I see they have another similar model that does say it will do that.

Does it also work if you put the camera side-on with the reciever on the blindside, as it were.
