As the originator of this thread I am still no wiser as to who won the 'Epson P-3000 storage viewer' which is what prompted me to start the thread. Anyone know where I can find the answer.?

i know i have said it before, but i will say it again....

I still wish there was a daily newsletter, announcements such as these could be incorporated.

It still irritates me when I hit the 'new posts' buttons, that I see lots of lots of the latest DPNow news articles.

I think it would be a lot slicker to incorporate in one daily newsletter for all to see, with links to the articles themselves. Announcements of any winners of competitions. Maybe even the picture of the day as well, if that gets going. I think it would make quite a nice read!

Ben I'm with you on this one. I can't see the point of announcing winners to these competitions if the winners name is used. We only know members by their user name, so we are none the wiser as to who has won the prizes.

The fact remains though that you don't have to be a forum member to enter the competitions. These are done through the main magazine site and are open to anyone. Consequently the laws of probability are that a non forum member will win and therefore won't have a user name. The only competition open to forum members exclusively is the Salon.

This is the main entry point for the forum (it's where you land from the forum/gallery main sit niva buttons) and doubles as a latest posts facility.

Only updates on 'feature' articles of key news items is now flagged there.

The New Posts option continues as a universal facility and I don't have plans to change that.

Only updates on 'feature' articles of key news items is now flagged there.

The New Posts option continues as a universal facility and I don't have plans to change that.

I forgot to add - a lot of people don't like email newsletters, just this morning I had a complaint from someone on the FTU site because he didn't have an option to avoid receiving email newsletters. He had signed up to the FTU forum in August and still hasn't posted a single message or used the gallery facility !

Yes indeed, the competitions aren't exclusive to the forum members, even though I have tried to promote the forum through some recent competitions.

I have highlighted the forum and the golden gallery prominently in the latest DPNow subscription newsletter. This goes out to 12,500 people - my stats show that 3,000 people have opened the newsletter since last night.

My feeling is that the current system works absolutely fine, and is an improvement on the previous one, but as Ian says you should enteer the forum via the Portal page.
