  • Taking pictures of fireworks, any advice?

    I will be out and about with the camera this coming Monday night so do you have any tips, general advice for shooting fireworks?

      Yes its that time of year already, soon be Christmas. I did a quick search on here and found this http://dpnow.com/1302.html Ian did this write up a few years back. Have fun and to all of you and keep safe. I am looking forward to seeing any photos.

            Use a low ISO , F 11-16 i found that a shutter speed of about 2-3 seconds gives me the time i need to shoot both the explosion and the trails , but you might need a shorter speed .
            And a mono or tripod .

              Excellent pics, thanks for the advice, I will remember that.

              Went and spent a fortune today on fireworks as we usually go to the local park with the kids. We meet up with a few other families and their kids, parents drink mulled wine and the kids have little goody bags so it is quite an event for them. I always do the lighting though so this year someone else will have to do it whilst I sort out my camera!! Priorities first and all that.

              I will of course post some pictures here when done!
