    Yes, it looks like Pampas Grass Cortaderia selloana

        I'd agree with Tazzart, probably Pampas Grass. You can get white and pink varieties.

        We had one that grew and grew and grew...we had great fun (not) digging it out a couple of years back when we redesigned the garden. It was an absolute nightmare, the root was like a solid tree trunk, I had to use an axe to cut through it and a scaffold pole to lever it out of the ground - be warned!

        It was 30 degrees the day we did it - reckon I lost half a stone

        Put it in the right place and it looks good though.

          Thanks for your info.
          I was going to plant it in the middle of my front garden but after what you have said I've changed my mind. I'm not much of a gardener so I just like to plant things that look after themselves.
