New photo mag on its way

I picked up a copy of Digital Camera today only to find a free mag inside. Its an exclusive preview edition called PhotoPlus. The first issue will come out on Wednesday the 26th of September. Now that is the good news but the bad news for some is that its only for canon users. The whole mag is set up around canon cameras. That means also that only compatible canon lens will be reviewed. The mag will also come with a free cd-rom of photoshop lessons.

Thanks for that Peter. Guess they've done their market research but seems a little narrow-minded to me.

Seems like Four Thirds User is setting a trend

I actually know the editor of the new mag quite well as we worked together when I used to contribute to the late lamented Digital Camera Shopper. It will be interesting to see how they do, but I think the universal name of the magazine may well confuse potential buyers.

I am also not sure if putting out a mag for one make of camera is a good way to go but it must be worth a look. Also on the front of the mag it does say canon edition. But it is not in big letters so it may catch a few people out.

They should've called it "CANNON FODDER" and taken out a 2 page spread "reed awl abowt it" ad in The Grauniad.
