  • Digital photography tomorrow - or is it now?

Spotted on another site, this is a very fascinating imaging technology showcase video. The technology is awesome but also slightly disturbing - what do you think?

Aren't you slightly concerned that a mindless piece of technology tinkering with your image all by itself?

I think I see it as a potential photoshop plugin, the control of which I would have. Simply another tool in the creative arsenal so to speak. Though I can see that for the likes of press photography etc it could be something that was open to abuse. But then we already have and know about that sort of thing

It looks good to me - useful and fun.

The way I see it you're ultimately in control of your own final image anyway. you hould still have an original image, whatever tweaks you choose to make and whatever techniques or tools you choose to use for your tweaks.

Yes, there are editing facilities as demonstrated. I was interested to see if anyone was concerned that the software could dynamically change the picture when in a document, say on the Web, that was resized in a window.

I somehow hadn't twigged that it was intended for use on websites so that photos would change dynamically on the page, as he demonstrated with text. If this is the case then indeed I would be uneasy about its use. However if it was more for use in layout applications etc, or for resizing images before placing on a web page then thats slightly different

Aha - I see what you mean! I hadn't considered that possibility.

Are you saying someone could actually alter the content of someone else's website with it? If so then I'd be very concerned!!

Concerned, Bloody petrified more like it. With Sony now making cameras that take your picture when you smile at them and powerful software like this. Hell what's this world coming to. Makes you wonder what we will wake up to tomorrow.
