Re: The Great Illusion
That is truly beautiful. This is not the first time I have seen this type of work. In fact we have a full size poster print of a very similar image hanging in our bedroom. I'll be returning often to look at that site. Fabulous.
Ps Who said I don't appreciate ART

Some great images there pol, (though presented in the most irritating way!)
Clearly this artist is heavily influenced by Dali.
Thanks for sharing love em!

Re: The Great Illusion
I found the Great Illusion a bit unsatisfactory. Clever but not really for any other purpose than to demonstrate cleverness.
This is my favourite. The photography is terrific. Do allow enough time to view it.

I've always thought that way about the site too - but the late 60s was my era so that's ok. I used to share a house with a couple of Art students and couple of musicians and an idealist architect during that time and that the sort of stuff that used to be painted, written, discussed and plastered on the walls too. Great times!
By heck we were 'deep' in those days.
Peace man. Make Love not War

Haha, I think he has just gone down in my estimationOriginally posted by Pol View PostAn old mate, never-quite-retired hippy and talented artist once sent me the link to that website when he felt I needed some inspiration.
You knew him too .... 'twas Hori.

Yeah Hori always was and probably always will be a 'one-off'.
I haven't spoken with him for nigh on a couple of years now so I dunno what he's up to, though I know he still has all the dogs and was also running archery events on his fields.

A little harsh I think. I is very well done but not to my taste. I hope you can remember 40 years ago Andrew. LSD was already passe'.Originally posted by Andrew Thatcher View PostMy god that guys so far up his own LSD trip its unreal. Id say that Websites about 40 years out of date.

I never tried any of those 60s 'naughty things' myself.
I've been working my way along the 'Life Through Time' website and it is indeed an excellent site with some super photos.
I'd have preferred a voice-over commentary though, rather than the click on system for more details about the pictures.
Thanks for the link - I've passed it on to one or two others.

I always knew you were an artist deep down in yer soul. I always suspected you were a perishin' old hippy type too.
The artwork for the site is from Jim Warren and his personal website can be found HERE.
The text is from Victor Kahn - more detailHERE
Even though Jim Warren's work is fine art, I've often pondered the possibility of combining photographs with digital artwork to produce a similar style of image. I'm not much use at that sort of image manipulation but I know you and Pops can sometimes produce some good stuff.
Some of Jim Warren's images have also enhanced the ways I watch certain real life scenes - such as waterfalls, waves on the beach etc.
