Re: Camera blur, out of focus, fineart??

I'm with Pops on this one, didn't do a great deal for me at all. There are a few I'd be pleased to have taken but more than a few that I wouldn't and would been consigned to the bin or, probably more likely, not taken in the first place.

Each to his own I suppose, if we all liked the same then it would be a boring old world wouldn't it? And we wouldn't have much to talk about on here!

I remember that sort of thing being big in the mid-80s. The best ones are still Capas from the D-Day landings. And that was down to a muppet in a lab that ruined all of his other shots, funny how things work out

          Hi Patrick

I don't let the judges get to me and I do submit images I like.

The reason I tried the My Venice one, was because I saw a similar treatment on gondolas on the front of a magazine and I just liked the colouring and whole effect. I hadn't known how it was achieved so just kept trying different things. The colours were 'picked' from the original photograph. In fact my rendition turned out to be nothing at all like the treatment on the one on the magazine, but it had been my inspiration.

Some members make notes on what judges like ie digital, non digital, landscapes, something a big different etc. I just submit what I fancy at the time and am not selective. Neither am I very competitive. I like to get a reasonble mark, but we have some very good photographers in our club, with a lots of "Letters" after their names.
