  • I can't wait......

Just had a quick walk round the garden (before the rain started ), everything's coming on nicely so I can't wait for..

The apples..Discovery - early, red & juicy but plagued by wasps when ripe

The raspberries..if the resident blackbirds will leave me some they love 'em

The cherries..best get a net over the tree before the birds get to them!

The blackberries..again assuming the blackbirds leave me any

The greengages..hiding in the leaves and difficult to spot at the moment

The peaches..so good last year we planted a second tree this spring

The pears, the pigeons love these when they're small and green. The pigeons need to realise they're good eatin'!

The Kentish cob-nuts (for much later in the year, they will probably be kept for Christmas)

The tomatoes... got rid of the greenhouse last year (a mistake I think) but still got a few in a small frame.

Unfortunately no plums this year, the tree was getting past it's best so I grubbed it but we've planted a new one so we should be back in production in a couple of years.

    Forgot the rhubarb!

but best of all, and ready any day now and netted so the birds can't get at them

      Stuart,

My mouth began to water just thinking about all of the fruit! we had a very late frost that took care of any chances for fruit this year for us, except strawberries! We are thankful for those!they are just getting to bloomin here!

        WOW!
        Your doing well there Stuart!

I was sad enough to actually count how many apples I could see coming....76......lets hope the wasps leave em alone!

I too have strawbs, and they are coming along nicely, but you see to have a superb selection there! Fingers cross the wildlife leave you some!

Hey Stuart, what a delightful tour of your orchard!

In my teens we had a house with a garden just like that (including a greengage tree!) Brings back some good memories.

The greens of spring come through so freshly.
