There seems to be suspiciously little on the search engines about getsoftwarenow.net, which suggests that they haven't been around very long and yet they claim to have a record of three years business.

I will make enquiries with Adobe to find out if they are legit.

I've never used them and I don't think I'd want to take the risk.... especially after looking through their Terms and cConditions. One section below states "the software can't be registered with it's producer" and also states "if the program requires activation you agree to activate through our company". Nor can you get upgrades - you have to buy the full programme each time

Have a look at section 3.1 of their T&C.

On another page there are comments about some customers having problems with the d/l ....... no disc supplied, only web downloads as far as I could see.

If the products are genuine then being forced to buy full product at their prices would be no great imposition. I have no worries about no disk being supplied I can soon make one.

However at these low prices there can't be much profit, they must making money somehow its the how that worries me.

I shall be waiting with great interest for Ian's enquiries at Adobe.
Oh! by the way thank you Ian for your efforts.

          Hi Ian

I decided to buy the upgrade to CS3 direct from adobe and have downloaded and instaled, it is realy quick on the new computer, but I suppose it has been written to take advantage of duel core.

Still interested to read the outcome of your enquiries.

Hi Patrick, I've placed the query with Adobe but it could be a few days before I get a response.

I'll certainly be back with an update.

I've chased this up with Adobe, but there is still no official word - but I'll keep reminding them.

                Re: On line Software

OK, had a call from Adobe this morning and they didn't speak specifically about the site apart from noting that the prices were unrealistically cheap. Their general advice is that if you can't find solid contact details (address phone number, etc.) for an online vendor, you should be suspicious. I'd also supplement this advice by urging anyone to do an online search for the company's history; and with this company, despite a claim of 3 years trading, there is next to no search history to validate this statement. If you'd ask me would I buy from this company on the information that I have found, my answer would be certainly not.

                  Re: On line Software

I would of thought that most software now requires on line activation, you will only know if the software is genuine or not only at the point of registration.

Worst would be once credit card detail is given online, details my get transfered to criminal gangs.

                    Hi Danny

If you have read the whole thread that was in the back of my mind without saying it out load as it were.
I have seen other sites of this type there prices are very tempting, but at the end of the day there are no free lunches so I asked the question as I was interested in CS3. After doing my sums it was as cheap to buy the upgrade safely direct from Adobe, which I have since done.
