Re: Poll - what's your favourite kind of photography?
My favourite type of photography is people at home and abroad, but in natural situations. I don't feel that this comes under portraiture, eg:

I don't really think of this as a portrait. (I am probably wrong, but my understanding of portraiture is when someone poses for a pic.)
Having said that, I don't know how I would categorise it for the poll, if not portraiture!

I love the picture, Audrey! That's how your cuppa starts life. Tea is a relative if the camelia, if I'm not mistaken?Originally posted by Autumn View PostMy favourite type of photography is people at home and abroad, but in natural situations. I don't feel that this comes under portraiture, eg:

Back to the poll - could this fit into 'candid'?

Re: Poll - what's your favourite kind of photography?
Great poll. It'll be really interesting to see what really drives people, photographically speaking.
Anyway, I voted for landscapes because the scope within that genre is almost infinite........but I'm passionate about form, texture, colour and mood so I get a buzz out of shooting still life, portraits and architecture with an emphasis on atmosphere and intensity. Certainly in terms of my personal work, I've yet to pin myself down to a specific genre; almost everything floats my boat, especially if it's done imaginatively and with flair
At work of late, I've been mainly shooting interiors and architecture for design agencies, architects and construction companies, and I've been fortunate enough to work with clients who - while providing me with clear briefs* - have allowed me almost free reign when it comes down to how I interpret their needs creatively. It's okay shooting to an exact specification because you ultimately still get paid for the work, but being allowed to use your imagination and put your stamp onto someone else's project is far more rewarding.
(* Clear briefs are not see-through underpants...

Audrey,
Your photo does fall under the portraiture category.
More specific this type of photos are "Environmental Portraits"

I don't see where is the "Nightshots"
Why can't we vote for more than one category?
That would reflect more accurately peoples interests in general and could give a more precise indication of the mass preference.
Anyway, I vote for "Nightshots"

Lovely picture Audrey. I would say its a portrait. Its a portaitof tea lady (no idea what the correct term is....tea picker?) in my opinion, if your eye is drawn toward the subject, its the subject thats the main focusOriginally posted by Autumn View PostMy favourite type of photography is people at home and abroad, but in natural situations. Re: Poll - what's your favourite kind of photography?
Difficult question!! Too difficult - because I like anything that inspires me and I can be inspired by all sort of different things.
You didn't include 'Street' and Photojournalism in the Poll .. and they're high on my list of favourites.

True - I kind of lumped those in with 'candids' but I see your point.Originally posted by Pol View PostDifficult question!! Too difficult - because I like anything that inspires me and I can be inspired by all sort of different things.
