  • Another experimental video, this time from PMA

After my video sensor cleaner video, a not so successful (in terms of video quality) clip from PMA, featuring the 200-500 Sigma monster zoom lens:

    Sigma 200-500 f/2.8 at PMA07

This is much worse than the original file quality.

Here's a revised version using a different editing process...

    Revised Sigma Bigma video

This time the MP4 source clips were combined using QuickTime Pro and the resulting MP4 file, which I don't think suffered any additional compression, was uploaded to You Tube.

I'm finding that the video playback isn't very smooth and it stops with 8 seconds to go - can anyone else verify that?

Yes I can verify that. The quality overall is better though

Thanks Stephen - it looks like the frame rate has been reduced by YouTube - I will have to look into that! Learning all the time

If you listen carefully you an hear someone saying that surely the target market for the lens can't be sports photographers because "nobody is going to be lugging that around a football field" - but the target market IS apparently sports photographers, according to Siogma, who moved to meet the demand for a very bright constant aperture tele zoom for use shooting flood-lit night time events

The first video runs to the finish, the second video (much better quality) stops with 8 secs left to go.

I did indeed listen to the sound and heard the comments. I'd prefer watching the hapless photographer assigned to test the lens rather than watching the sport he was shooting. He'd need one helluva tripod or his very own supply of V shaped foam or 'beanie-bag' bricks to support that lot.
