Member's Galleries - Help ?

First - are Member Galleries now open for forum members to use ?
Second - I assumed that that was the case and tried to do a test. I appeared to register OK and create an album called 'India 05'. I then went to 'Upload Photos' and attempted to upload a 'jpg' file - on 'Submit' a progress bar appeared at bottom of the screen, followed by a window which stated :- 'Preparing to process image list!' - 'Click here if you do not want to wait any longer'.

After wait some time with nothing happening I 'clicked here' and was presented with a screen with a message 'Warning: imagecreatefromjpeg() [function.imagecreatefromjpeg]: '/homepages/39/d112910160/htdocs/dpnow.com/galleries/uploads/10/PoppadomMan.jpg' is not a valid JPEG file in /homepages/39/d112910160/htdocs/dpnow.com/galleries/image-inc.php on line 99'

Can anyone suggest what may be causing the problem. - (Maybe one for Ian).

Hi Dennis,

You are very welcome to try out the gallery, but it's not yet fully tested or configured. We have been having some teething problems, but not seen that one. I will investigate. Your feedback is much appreciated.

The main problems we have been having are - zip archive uploading of multiple images in a single file doesn't work and our server has been showing occasional Error 500s, which is annoying as we have just upgraded!

Hi Ian - Many thanks for quick reply. I would be grateful for a message if you come up with any ideas or suggestions. I may try uploading the same pic direct to the forum to see if it gets through without errors.

Incidentally, you can find the gallery system (running PhotoPost Pro 5.3) at http://dpnow.com/galleries.

Shortly, the sub domain http://galleries.dpnow.com will also point to the gallery system and it would be best to bookmark that as if we move the gallery system to a server of its own in the future that url will continue to work, whereas the http://dpnow.com/galleries one might not.

The same applies for the forum - http://dpnow.com/forum2 works now but it's best to use http://forum.dpnow.com or http://dpnow.com/Forums.html

Could you try again? I managed to test upload OK, though the intermediate page seemed to get stuck so I clicked on the link.

The forum uses a completely different attachment upload system.

But the main purpose of the gallery system and why it has been installed, is for providing some upload space for forum users who would like to use the image insert option in forum posts (which requires that the image being inserted be uploaded previously). But of course the gallery can be used for all the other uses that it caters for as a bonus
