I forgot that I had seen these a week or so, ago.

So they obviously didn't impress me much.

But after reading your comments, I decided to study them more carefully.

There are a handful of photos that I really liked. But on the whole, I was still not impressed.

The set at the beginning are dreadful. The snow made almost all the images look attractive, but as for winners, no I don't think so. Unless snow was the theme, the results were too one sided. There should have been images without snow.

But there weren't any with snow, Autumn

I think the link Ron supplied was right.

But the arrow for the next image, redirects you to some other set of unrelated photos.

My mistake. Thanks for sending me in the correct direction. Well, there were some very good images but also some that I wonder what they were looking at! For example, an elderly lady standing in the sea with a ship behind her head when the rest of the sea has no traffic.

I thought the men asleep on the ferry? was excellent. Also the Indian train. Not sure whether the baby was being lifted on or off!

Most of them I wouldn't have given them a second glance. I searched around many of them wondering what the author was trying to portray, what was the story?

But hey, we are old and we know nothing - Nada!

Thanks Garry your link works far better than mine. Having seen them a little larger and perhaps looking at them in a better mood, maybe one or two are in my mind worth hanging on a wall. Overall I'm still not impressed considering these were selected from many thousands of entries.

As Autumn said, put it down to old age.

Difficult one.

I find it easier to pick the really bad ones out. There are many that to my mind are really just snaps.

Got my No Vote:-

4 - upside down - what's special, I can do that?
7 and 39 - dead eyes arrogant, insolant, 39 poor quality. (So it made me look)
13 - lady in sea with boat behind head and sloping horizon. (Where are they looking for a good image?)

The ones which made me look again and IMO are interesting or even quite good.:-

11 - train (interesting, but not really difficult to take as it is happening all the time)
12 - Tents in Japan. I like this as it is colourful, unusual, technically quite good and of course "Well seen."
15 - Boy and candle. It may be contrived, but possibly not and it caught my attention. (Some other similar ones do look contrived).
45 - Men in trunks, little girl and bird. Amusing caught my eye
47 - Made me laugh (awkward little beggar) walking backwards.
49 - Well spotted and caught
50 - I have a similar one but you do feel you need to record it.

There now, you have my expert opinion.

There are many other interesting images that have been selected. I have also seen similar ones (not mine) over the years by Worksop Photographic Society members who compete internationally. But hey, these people did well to get noticed and at least they bothered to enter. So well done. It's just that I can't see where some of the judges are coming from. However, it's no different to some of the TV competitions.

Agree these are very nice images to view. Was not sure whether I was judging them by photographic quality or content. Both are excellent.

Like wise. I simply find that looking at colourful, bright, warm, summery images, is pleasing on cold days.
