  • Automatic White Balance (AWB)

Having seen a lot of snow pictures in the last day or so, I'm seeing a lot of the "white" stuff that looks a lot like AWB has been on when they have been taken.

The colour of snow is seldom white, but takes on the colour of the light that is illuminating it.

Is anyone else noticing "wrong" colours are becoming more prevalent?

    Ah! White balance.

I wonder how many of us change the white balance as needed ?

Now that you have mentioned this, Graham. I have been looking around at various snow photos, and yes. I see what you mean.

I have to admit, that I do use AWB for snow and then use the " Eye dropper" tool in my processing to try to recreate what my eye saw.

Just read a short blog from a Canon Blog. Was quite interesting.

Page two gives a couple of good examples
