  • A photographer who lost his sight hangs on to his vision

This is a touching report about a photographer who has retained his love of photography after losing his sight:

Juan Torre had a successful career as a newspaper photographer when at the age of 30 he began to suffer from Behcet's syndrome - a rare and poorly-understood disease that has left him with six percent vision.

Very sad, but heartening and inspirational at the same time.

Tactile graphics have been produced for many years. With the rise of ever cheaper 3D printers and image rendering (edge finder) I would expect to hear of more and better ways for visual data being made available to people who are sight impaired.

I can imagine stacked focus being used to produce layers of 2D shapes that form a 3D diorama.

Certainly an interesting news article and well worth looking at.
