If you need the mega-resolution and super-fine depth of field that the large sensor offers you with the Sony A7 and A7R, then go for it.
But my personal opinion is that the people who really need this kind of performance are relatively few and a lot of people will be kidding themselves that they need it.
On top of that the Sonys are slower and mechanically less refined. No in-body IS is, for me, a major negative, too.
And while the A7 body is remarkably small and light, the lenses will never be compared to APS-C or Micro Four Thirds.
