  • Encroachment of Adverts

I've just started using Google Chrome and noticed that the adverts on the left of the screen are encroaching into the forum post space...

Is it just me or are the adverts slowly taking over

No problem here with Chrome, IE, Firefox, or Safari.

It's my old 1024 x 768 Laptop and Chrome that's the problem. It's fine on the new machines with bigger screens...

Oh well Christmas is coming, time for an upgrade

So that you can see "wotimonabowt" - Sorry been spending too much time in the East End of Lunden

I'd never moan about the adds being there as they often show things of interest... (she certianly has nice legs)

As you can see the add is clipping the left hand side of the thread area.

It only happens on my old laptop using Chrome so I'll simply revert to IE8 for this site.

My reason for using Chrome, is that some new sites are using such complex codes, that my 10 year old PC and IE8 cannot handle it and freezes...

But having read the specs of Ian's new DELL Laptop, I'm very tempted to start looking

1024 wide is practically unheard of these days, Graham! My phone as a 1280 screen

You may be happy about mature dating ads - I'm not though Unfortunately run of site ads we have little control over

Funny you say that. Someone told me about the terrible quality of the pictures of the people on these sites in comparison to the ones on the adds for the site, and suggested I set up a service to produce good quality images for the people.

The trouble is, to do this would involve contacting the people and that, I'm told, involves joining the sites. I can only imagine the reaction I'd get from my wife

But for anyone out there who is looking to make some money, it presents an opportunity...

I did a quick look at the DELL Outlet site and there are no good deals at the moment I'll go back to your post and take full note of the spec., as it seems quite good.

Dell updates the outlet site twice a day and the best deals do tend to go quickly.

What size screen, features and budget are you thinking of?

Early days in the process of updating the 10 year old laptop, but the one thing that is a MUST will be the matte / anti-glare screen.

It's bad enough looking in the mirror of a morning, without having to see my self in a screen.

The main use of the laptop is on location shoots and tethered control of the cameras for macro work and other things. However with wireless transfer of files and streaming live view to my little LCD TV, there are "Other Options" (if only there was a way to stream live view to tablets)

Who knows what Photokina may present for us. Some of these clever independents like TriggerTrap may well provide the ultimate solution or a whole new way of doing things.
