I noticed Tom has now sussed how to upload to the gallery (well done, Tom) but may appreciate some help in posting his gallery picci into a forum thread.

You can experiment as much as you wish in there. Either start a new thread or just carry on using the thread I've started for you in there.

BTW Tom - that's a gorgeous Dahlia picture! I love it.

Oh yes - I love Dahlias and used to grow them in the garden when I was a teenager

They are imperious flowers - great variety of styles and sizes and of course colours.

Me too. I grew Dahlias until just a few years ago when we had a very bad winter and I lost all the tubers. It was a relief in some way because there were so many and caring for them, both in the garden and in storage, was getting more and more difficult for me.

I love those pastel colours in Tom's picci.

Did you leave the tubers in the ground? You usually have to over-winter them somewhere frost-free, like a garden shed.

No, I never left them in the ground!

They were wrapped in a box in the shed but it had been a very hard winter and the shed had developed a hole in the rear side and floor.

I lost Geraniums the same year and really cba with that sort of thing anymore. The over-wintering became too much hassle, the shed needed all sorts of repairs (or replacing) and we got so fed up with the greenhouse being damaged in storms so we eventually got rid of it a couple of years ago.

We're gradually remodelling the garden to make things lower maintenance since we're getting too old and lame for high maintenance stuff.

I'm just a little old lady, remember. A tiny old lady fed up with injuring herself in the garden.
